This charming tapestry features a scene with Marquis Cornwallis in India, consoling a child with family around her. The script on the bottom of the embroidery states “Tippoo Saib’s two sons taking leave of their mother previous to being deliver’d as hostages to Ld Cornwallis”. An intiguing and momentous time in history no doubt.
The tapestry is framed in sumptuous rosewood and is protected by a glass front.
