27/03/2025George IV sterling silver vinaigrette c.1829
$1,950.00
This incredibly rare sterling silver vinaigrette hails from England and was crafted in 1829.
Used to hold aromatic substances (often dissolved in vinegar), vinaigrettes were used to mask unpleasant odours and were worn as a fashionable accessory.
Still in its stunning original condition, this darling piece features the Brighton Cathedral on top, which is beautifully detailed.
The lid flips open to reveal the filigree style grate, which hinges up to place your aromatics underneath. The base is hallmarked as per accompanying image.
The back of the vinaigrette has a lovely pattern with a plaque bearing the name “Anne”.
This lovely piece can be posted anywhere in Australia for $25 + insurance if required.
