09/01/2023Victorian Oak Hall Chair with Scroll Back, c.1870
This Victorian oak hall chair with scroll back (c.1870) is the perfect example of how antique pieces can become the ideal decorator piece in today’s homes. Hall chairs (as the name suggests) were usually placed in the entrances of grand family homes. Their purpose was for show rather than comfort and they were often decorated with the family crest. The flat base of the chair lends itself to either a cushion or a place to set a pile of books or vase of flowers.
